Developing technological innovation products and services for immediate application in the aquaculture sector
Intro
The union of DDPA researchers working on Aquaculture, and of partner researchers, started the Aquaculture Technological Innovation group, called AQUAINOVA, led by the researcher, Dr. Lissandra Souto Cavalli.
AQUAINOVA aims to develop products and services of technological innovation for immediate application in the aquaculture sector. We have a multidisciplinary team already active in lines of research and innovation, transferring to the sector products such as mobile applications, studies and validation of probiotics, study and validation of methods of diagnosis of animal diseases.
Aquahealth applications will support specialists and professionals in disease identification, waste management and occupational safety, as well as in decision making. In addition, it may be used for other purposes such as teaching in colleges and training of agricultural professionals.
SANITY
With regard to sanity, research and diagnosis, treatment and prevention of viral, bacterial and other pathogenic diseases is fundamental to control the dissemination of agents that cause harm to the productive sector. The main challenge with regard to sanitary protection of aquatic animals is to increase the availability of services and professionals trained to diagnose diseases as well as the adoption of measures to control and eradicate diseases.
MICROBIOLOGICAL COLLECTION
The preservation, identification and cataloging of biological collections of importance in the health of aquatic animals is fundamental. The collections of DNA, viruses, bacteria and parasites will support scientific and technological research activities, as well as the development and production of bioproducts.
